Holy Trinity Classical Christian School continued its dominance over SCISA Class 1A cross country, winning both the boys and girls team titles at the SCISA State Championship at Heathwood Hall in Columbia.
The Lions bolted to the boys title in impressive fashion, totaling 38 points to easily outpace runner-up South Aiken Christian (72). Sophomore Daniel Reedy (18:16) finished third to lead a trio of Holy Trinity runners in the top eight, as senior Luke Greene (18:44) was fifth, and junior Ethan Marquardt (19:02) was eighth. Sam Moore (19:28) was 12th, and Caleb Stone (19:53) rounded out the scoring in 15th, though teammate Brennan Horn (19:54) was right behind in 16th.
Holy Trinity’s girls had a more difficult time, but they were able to tally 32 points and edge Charleston Collegiate by six. Senior Hannah Reedy (23:05) led the way in fourth place as all five of the Lions’ scoring runners placed in the top 11. Ellie Schaub (23:44) was fifth, followed by sixth-grader AnnaCate Gray (24:03) in eighth, eighth-grader CeCe McAlhaney (24:04) in ninth, and eighth-grader Elise Marquardt (24:08) in 11th.
The husband and wife duo of Josiah and Hillary Tobin have now coached Holy Trinity to eight SCISA state titles over the past five years with the boys and girls each winning four championships.
