Firefighters from the Burton Fire District welcomed donations of fire safety kits and $500 from the Corriveau Insurance Agency in Beaufort on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
“These types of partnerships help connect our Fire District to the community we serve, and the contribution from Andy Corriveau and his team is very much appreciated,” Capt. Dan Byrne, community support officer and paramedic with the Burton Fire District, said in a release.
The Corriveau Agency is the longest serving State Farm agency in Jasper, Beaufort, Hampton and Colleton counties.
“We take great pride in working alongside our local fire departments to help save lives and protect property,” Andy Corriveau said. “Educating residents about fire safety, especially as we move a little closer to cooler weather with outdoor cooking and indoor heating systems, is critical.”
Although the firefighters and Corriveau work year-round to inform residents about fire dangers, Oct. 4-10 is National Fire Prevention Week (www.nfpa.org/fpw) with a special focus on cooking safety.
State Farm is the state’s largest home insurer. The fire prevention kits donated to the Burton Fire District contain educational fire prevention materials for homeowners and children. Firefighters can share the information at fire stations or at community events.
