Beaufort County seeking input on Whitehall Park

The Beaufort County Passive Parks Manager, in partnership with the City of Beaufort, the Beaufort County Open Land Trust and the Friends of Whitehall Park, are working together to develop a master plan for Whitehall Park.

Visit https://bit.ly/2Gyhtys to fill out a brief survey about conceptual passive recreation opportunities for Whitehall Park. The online survey will be available until September 20. The County will use this feedback to finalize the master plan for the park.

Coastline features new County leaders

A new episode of The County Channel’s series Coastline features two new members of County Administrator Ashley Jacobs’ leadership team.

Coastline host Scott Grooms welcomes Interim Deputy County Administrator Robert Bechtold, and Assistant County Administrator Jared Fralix to The County Channel Studio.

Mr. Bechtold, who recently retired from the United States Marine Corps, joined the County as an International County Management Association fellow this summer before taking on the role of interim Deputy County Administrator. Mr. Fralix began with the County as interim Director of Traffic Engineering.

Coastline airs on The County Channel at 9:30 a.m. Sundays, 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays, 8 p.m. Thursdays and at 9 a.m. Fridays at 9 a.m. Coastline is a monthly news show filmed in-studio and produced by The County Channel.

US Chamber endorses Cunningham

The U.S. Chamber of Congress on Wednesday, Sept. 2, endorsed Rep. Joe Cunningham for re-election to Congress. Cunningham previously received the Chamber’s Jefferson-Hamilton award for his commitment to bipartisan solutions and the Spirit of Enterprise Award for his support of pro-growth economic policies. The Chamber ranked Cunningham the fourth most bipartisan member of Congress. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business organization representing companies of all sizes across every sector of the economy.

County spraying for mosquitoes

Beaufort County Mosquito Control may conduct aerial and/or ground treatments through Friday, Sept. 11. Mosquito Control applies EPA-registered public health insecticide during ideal weather using low-flying aircraft throughout daylight hours and spray trucks from about 11 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

County fee presentations online

The Beaufort County Natural Resources Committee recently hosted a work session to review draft studies to discuss impact fees. The meeting was broadcast on The County Channel and can be viewed at https://bit.ly/336uBCG.

The public was invited to submit comments before the meeting and feedback was incorporated into the work session presentations hosted by Committee Chairwoman Alice Howard and Colin McAweeney of TischlerBise.
