Sheila Miley, a certified public accountant with Robinson Grant & Co., says time is running out.
Miley said the income tax deadline extension (from April 15 to July 15) was granted during the Covid-19 outbreak, but that extension is quickly running out.
“We are not seeing clients because of Covid concerns”, she said. “Right now we are just pushing the work through to make the July 15 deadline”.
However, taxpayers can still request, if needed, a final extension well into the fall.
“Individuals can apply for an extension until Oct. 15. Businesses need to have their taxes submitted by Sept. 15,” she said. “After that there are no more extensions.”
Miley said it’s important to note that July 15 is still the tax deadline and one has to submit a request to the Internal Revenue Service and the S.C. Department of Revenue for the final extension.
“After that, there isn’t anything else.”
