Beaufort’s Stone claims region crown

Hilton Head High captured the team title and Beaufort High’s Izzy Stone was the individual champion at the Region 7-4A girls golf meet Monday at The Legends at Parris Island.

Led by Alexia Milbrandt (88), McKenzie Bradley (93), and Bridget McMahon (96), the Seahawks posted an 18-hole team score of 379 to win by 60 shots over runner-up Bluffton.

Stone fired a 6-over-par 78 to win individual medalist honors by 10 shots over Milbrandt, while Bradley was third, Bluffton’s Anna LaPour (94) was fourth, and McMahon was fifth. Hilton Head High’s Eliza Jane Coulter and Grace Weismantel tied for sixth to claim the final two spots on the all-region team.

All three teams will compete in the Lower State qualifier next Monday at Coastal Carolina University’s Hackler Course, with the top eight teams with team scores under 400 and the three lowest-scoring individuals from non-qualifying teams advancing to the state tournament.
