Lowcountry residents Dick Bradbury, John Tashjian, Joseph Trapani and William VanDerBeek have been named to The Beaufort Memorial Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm of the non-profit community hospital.
Each of the four new members brings years of experience serving in executive positions in their respective professional fields, as well as civic and charitable boards.
A graduate of Colorado College, Bradbury began his corporate career with Illinois Tool Works after serving three years as a U.S. Army infantry officer.
He earned his MBA from Northwestern University while working full time. He joined United Dominion Industries in 1981 as vice president of sales, working his way up to division president and senior vice president of operations. He retired in 2001 to pursue part-time consulting and property development investments.
Over the years, he has served on several boards, including a North Carolina family foundation and a home for children, and committees at First Presbyterian Church of Beaufort.
Tashjian is a founder and principal of Centurion Real Estate Partners, an owner and developer of office and luxury residential condominium properties in New York and Los Angeles. Prior to forming Centurion in 2003, he was a senior vice president at USB, specializing in real estate investment banking and principal investment transactions.
A graduate of Babson College in Massachusetts, Tashjian sits on the board of the Centurion Foundation, a charitable organization that supports the NYPD and other law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S.
Trapani is a graduate of New Jersey’s Fairleigh Dickinson University where he earned his B.A. and M.A. in International Relations/Finance. He went on to earn a certificate in Business Management/Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Business.
Most recently he served as executive vice president of Hart Schaffner Marx, one of the largest manufacturers of men’s suits in the world. He currently serves as vice president of the board of directors for Oldfield Club.
VanDerBeek is a retired police chief with more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement. He was a certified police instructor with the New Jersey State Police Training Commission and served as an adjunct professor of Criminal Justice at Mercy College in New York.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, VanDerBeek graduated from Mercy College with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and Behavioral Science and earned his master’s in Education and Management from Seton Hall University in New Jersey. He has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Bergen County Municipal Alliance Program and the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut.
The Beaufort Memorial Board of Trustees is led by chair Sara Dyson, vice chair Hampton Long and secretary Tony Britton. Bradbury was elected to serve as treasurer.
Other members of the 15-member board include Andrea Allen, Dan Barton, Laura Beall, Hugh Gouldthorpe, Marjorie Gray, Tei Tober, Robert Trask and David House, who also serves as chair of the Beaufort Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees.
