Police looking for suspects in Auto Zone armed robbery

Shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2013 Beaufort Police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery which had just occurred at the Auto Zone located at 2602 Boundary Street.

Two store employees reported that as they were preparing to close the business two suspects wearing masks rushed in, pointed handguns at them, and ordered them to the back of the store. The subjects ordered the victims to turn over the store’s money and kneel down in a back room. As this was taking place, a customer walked into the store who was also confronted by the suspects and brought to the same room as the employees. The suspects then fled the area and an employee was able to call 911.

Responding officers arrived one minute after receiving the call and secured the scene. A search of the area was conducted with the aid of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, but the suspects were not located. The case is under investigation and investigators continue to follow up. The suspects were described by witnesses as two black males possibly in their twenties. One was wearing a light shirt and pants while the other had on red shorts and a black t-shirt. Both were of medium height and armed with handguns.

Anyone who may have information regarding this case is requested to contact Investigator Carter at 322-7966 or the 24 hour dispatch office at 524-2777.
