Veteran of the Week – Paul Logan

American Legion Beaufort Post 207 brings you Paul Logan, 100 years young, who graduated from Robert Smalls High School in 1944 and was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II. After Basic Training, he was supposed to be sent overseas but was, instead, assigned to duty in Southern California. There he worked in military transportation and with the Military Police. After the war’s end, in 1947 he was released as a Private First Class and he moved to New York City to be near his mother who was working in the garment industry. His first job there was also in the Garment District where he met and married is wife, Vilna. Mr. Logan eventually got a job as a city bus driver, while Vilna became Citibank’s head of foreign correspondence. After retiring, the Logans moved to the Lowcountry. They remained married for 70 years and he cared for her until her death at age 99. Mr. Logan was a member of the American Legion while in New York.
