A baker’s dozen area private-school football stars were selected to play for the South All-Stars in the 2020 SCISA North-South All-Star Football Game on Friday at Heathwood Hall in Columbia.

After leading the Rebels to a third consecutive SCISA 1A state championship, Thomas Heyward coach Nic Shuford served as head coach for the South squad, which claimed a 20-14 victory over the North.

Shuford had five of his own players on the roster — OL/DL Therion Cannon and John Hewlett, QB/DB Peyton Bennett, RB/DB JR Patterson, and ATH Bruzza Pusha — as well as a quartet of stars from SCISA 2A champion Hilton Head Christian Academy — QB/WR/DB JP Peduzzi, WR/DB Cameron Strickland, DL Liam Sirgo, and LB Troy Chisolm.

Beaufort Academy WR/LB Elijah Fess and RB/DB Ja’Sean Lawson also were on the winning roster, along with Hilton Head Prep RB/WR/DB Tommy Stauffer and John Paul II QB/DB Jeremiah Young.
