Sand Sharks claim Oldfield Classic crown

The Oldfield Classic hardware stayed at home Tuesday, as the USCB men’s golf team carded an even-par 288 on its home course in the final round to close out a 10-shot win over NCAA Division I Drexel with three Sand Sharks finishing among the top 10.

Freshman Englishman Ellis Bright closed with a 4-under-par 68 to finish at 8-under over 54 holes, winning the individual title by five shots over Truett-McConnell’s Jackson Stone. USCB’s Nikolai Holme tied for seventh at 1-over, while teammate Aaron Williams was another shot back in 10th.

The Sand Sharks trailed the Dragons by two shots after Monday’s first round, but USCB shot 1-under on the second trip around the Greg Norman layout to take a six-shot lead into the final round. With Bright’s 68 setting the pace, USCB posted an even-par team score over the final 18 holes to win comfortably.
