This year the Gullah Geechee Initiative Foundation, Inc. (GGIF) sponsored the “Mandela Day Food Distribution Project” on Saturday, July 18 in commemoration of the 102th birthday anniversary of Nelson Mandela, the first South African President and a true servant of the people. GGIF would like to thank all who helped with this year’s Mandela Day food distribution. Also, special thanks to Simba League, Girl Scouts Troop 4105, S.C. DHEC, Lowcountry Food Bank, Salvation Army, Walmart Nos. 7181 and 1383, Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce, Healthy Blue South Carolina, Piggly Wiggly, Beautification Committee for MLK Jr. Memorial Park, 24K Social Club, Beaufort Jasper Comp. Health, St. Helena Lodge 4, Marshview Community Organic Farm, and the Beaufort County Board of Voter Registration and Elections.
