WEEK 4

Woodland 42, Whale Branch 13

The Wolverines’ offense caught fire early in the second half, rattling off 21 unanswered points in the first six minutes after the break to pull away from the Warriors. Whale Branch found some momentum before halftime with a long kickoff return setting up a Jermon Bowers dump-off pass to Davon Evans to cut the lead to seven, but turnovers and an inconsistent ground game plagued Jerry Hatcher’s side down the stretch. Bowers showed out in the secondary with a pair of interceptions to go alongside a touchdown pass and rushing score.

Up next: Whale Branch (2-2) vs. Philip Simmons on Friday

John Paul II’s Carson Hurst (17) and Ben Solomons (10) combine to take down HHCA’s Kres Langhals after a short gain in the first quarter of Friday’s game at City Hall in Hardeeville. Hurst had a team-high 10 tackles, and Solomons added six for the Golden Warriors in a 42-13 defeat. Justin Jarrett/LowcoSports
