After posting its best start in program history (5-0 with five shutouts), USCB women’s soccer players Synne Bye-Andersen and Emily Worrell claimed three weekly awards from the Peach Belt Conference and the Continental Athletic Conference on Monday, Sept. 12.
Worrell claimed two of the awards, as she was tabbed Peach Belt Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the third straight week and the Continental Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Bye-Andersen was named the Peach Belt’s Offensive Player of the Week, which is her first career PBC weekly honor.
Worrell, who has won all three PBC Goalkeeper of the Week awards, posted a pair of shutouts in the 5-0 win over Shorter and the 1-0 victory over Clayton State. She totaled over 164 minutes between the pipes en route to collecting her sixth shutout of her career. She collected seven saves, including matching a career-high six saves versus CSU. In her career, she has nearly played 1,000 minutes and has an outstanding 0.27 goals against average and a 9-1 record.
Bye-Andersen had a career week as well, as she posted her first hat trick. She posted her three-goal game at Shorter, and she capped off the week by collecting the decisive tally at Clayton State. She has now scored five goals in her last three games and brings her career goals scored tally to 13.
The Sand Sharks were to return to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 14, as the women’s soccer team hosted Georgia College for its first Peach Belt Conference home match.
