With a couple of holes in the lineup this weekend for the Northwood Invitational, John Paul II’s wrestling team knew it needed to earn as many bonus points as possible to have a shot at the team title, and the Golden Warriors delivered in a big way.

JPII wrestlers won 36 of their 48 contested matches and earned pins, technical falls, or major decisions in 28 of the 36 victories, helping them secure a two-point win over Timberland to take the crown. The Golden Warriors racked up 24 pins throughout the day.

All eight varsity wrestlers who competed placed in the top four, with Jase Reynolds taking the 120-pound title along with runner-up finishes from Daniel Snyder (144), Jack Hannagan (150), and Taylor Murphy (165).

In Hartsville, Bridges Prep finished 10th among 25 teams with four top-four finishers, including 175-pound champion Ali Jenkins. Beaufort High went 3-1 at the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruin Duals, and Battery Creek placed eighth among 11 teams at the Cardinal Newman Holiday Classic before claiming a 38-32 dual win over Hilton Head High on Monday.
