Protecting the Dunes

In their continuing effort to open Hunting Island State Park by the end of the month, officals this week are erecting nearly two miles of sand fencing to try and keep the newly renourished sand dunes in place. The dunes will be protected by the traditional fencing installed by Beaufort’s Patterson Construction. A spokesman for Patterson on Thursday, April 23 said that with no weather-related issues they can install 2,000 feet of fence a day.
