A historic plantation home in Lady’s Island’s Pleasant Point neighborhood was destroyed by fire Sunday, Aug. 19, after apparently being struck by lightning. The homeowners, the Guest family, were unable to call for assistance due to a 9-1-1 outage caused by the same storm. The 7,800-square-foot home had been listed on Zillow for $1.7 million.
