City receives clean audit report

From staff reports

The City of Beaufort received a clean bill of financial health from accounting firm Mauldin & Jenkins, which performs an annual financial and compliance audit for the City, according to a City of Beaufort news release.

At the Jan. 10 work session, David Irwin, CPA, a partner at Mauldin & Jenkins, reviewed the audit’s findings with City Council. The audit was done for the fiscal year 2022. The audit found that the City met the “highest level of assurance” and that all financial statements were presented in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

No deficiencies were found, Irwin said. He commended the Finance Department for its cooperation in providing all documents during the audit.

At the same meeting, Finance Director Alan Eisenman presented the City’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), also ending June 30, 2022. That can be found on at http://bit.ly/3XkoS7c.
